Where Can I Serve?

Jesus told us, his disciples, to make disciples of all nations. One of the most important values of Resurrection UMC is the fulfillment of that mission. It begins in our own Eastwood community, includes the greater Louisville area as well as our state of Kentucky, and spreads to other countries. Resurrection members are involved in a variety of ministries in the area:

  •   AA and ALANON
  •   Portland Promise Celebrate Recovery
  •   UofL Student Ministry, The Gathering
  •   Oaklawn Rehab and Retirement Center
  •   Women’s ministry at the prison in PeeWee Valley
  •   Eastern Area Community Ministry, providing food and financial assistance      to families
  •   Impact Kentucky! — a state-wide volunteer program to provide assistance       with home repairs, storm damage, etc. to communities in our state.

Mission Outreach

Resurrection UMC is actively involved in foreign missions.  We have a 20-year commitment to Talanga, Honduras, where we helped to construct a United Methodist church and continue to support their ministry with our prayers and offerings.  We also provide financing for educational help for families in that area.  Most currently, we sent a team to Tegucigalpa, Honduras to begin construction of a hospital for women and children.

Prayer

The importance of prayer cannot be overestimated, because we believe that prayer moves the hand of God. Resurrection UMC is a body of believers dependent upon prayer and committed to knowing and following God’s will. Throughout the week, our people pray for each other, for their pastor, for any special requests, for needs in our community, and for the global church. Each Wednesday evening we gather for a special time of prayer and Bible study.
